Times Will Close P.M. Final: On Friday, Feb. 15, the Los Angeles Times will publish its last late afternoon edition. The P.M. Final, a 10-page section of late-breaking news that wraps around the regular morning edition, has been sold only at newsstands in parts of Los Angeles and Orange counties. It was launched in 1989 as an experimental section to replace The Times’ afternoon edition. According to Times Publisher David Laventhol, the section “has failed to generate significant additional circulation. In the current economic environment, it seems a wiser course to concentrate our resources on our full-run and regional morning editions.”
