Council Votes Against Annexing County Areas

The San Marino City Council, hoping to end a monthslong controversy over whether to annex two unincorporated county areas, has voted not to accept the neighborhoods into its affluent borders.
The council voted Thursday to end its consideration of the annexation requests.
“It’s dead now as far as we’re concerned,” said Michi Takahashi, executive assistant to the Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission, which oversees annexation matters.
But annexation proponents said Friday that they were still assessing how to pursue efforts to join the exclusive community known for its highly regarded public schools.
