Iglesias Sings and Wins: Julio Iglesias is offering free tickets to his weekend concert in Arizona to those with relatives serving in the Persian Gulf War. Iglesias will give away up to four concert tickets per family. . . . Meanwhile, Iglesias had a victory in New York federal court Wednesday, when a judge ruled that his hit song “Hey” did not violate copyright laws. The Spanish-born singer had been sued by Enrique Chia, who claimed he wrote the music. Chia alleged that Iglesias copied his original 1978 Spanish ballad called “Es.” But U.S. District Judge John Keenan ruled that “Hey” was independently created and the melody had been composed between 1975 and 1977, before Chia’s creation of “Es.” Iglesias, who drew a large contingent of female fans to the Manhattan courthouse, testified he wrote his own lyrics to “Hey.”
