Conrad on Friendly Fire

In response to Conrad’s cartoon of tombstones marked “Sorry about that! Defense Dept.” with the caption “Friendly fire” (Feb. 6):
I have been an admirer of Conrad’s cartoon for years because he finds ways to make statements with lighthearted, deserved sarcasm. However, I found this cartoon in bad taste without thought for others and very difficult to look at. I can only hope our men or women, who in the split second of aerial battle are called upon to make life-threatening decisions, such as bombing, never have to see his cartoon! No matter what one’s beliefs, I think defacing public property, discrimination, burning the flag and this Conrad cartoon have not one ounce of merit.
