CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Feinstein Moves Toward Race

Former San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein filed papers Thursday with the Federal Election Commission to start raising funds for a 1992 campaign for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. Feinstein, 57, who narrowly lost the governor’s race to Republican Pete Wilson last fall, previously announced plans to seek the Senate seat of appointed Republican John Seymour. Feinstein raised nearly $20 million in the governor’s race. Seymour could face a challenge in the Republican primary from Rep. Bill Dannemeyer of Fullerton, Rep. Robert Dornan of Garden Grove or both.
