Drysdale Pleads No Contest to Drunk Driving Charge

Hall of Fame pitcher Don Drysdale pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge and was fined $2,350, prosecutors said Thursday.
Drysdale, 54, also was ordered to attend a 90-day alcohol education program and to work 200 hours with the Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation.
He was put on information probation for four years and his license was restricted for 90 days, limiting him to driving to and from work and the alcohol education program, according to Mike Qualls, a spokesman for the city attorney’s office.
Drysdale, who pitched for the Dodgers from 1956 to 1969 and is a member of their broadcast team, was sentenced late Wednesday.
The charge stems from a traffic accident on Jan. 21 in which the car Drysdale was driving collided with another vehicle.
