In other nonconference baseball:

Cypress 3, Mira Costa 0--Todd Blyleven (3-0) pitched eight innings, allowing two hits, striking out eight and walking two, for host Cypress (8-2). Blyleven has allowed only one run in 21 innings this season. Kevin Cook hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for his third of the season.

Cypress scored two in the fourth. Abijah Alastra scored on a fielder’s choice by Ernie Franco and Rob Utz singled home Sean Drinkwater later that inning. Lee Torres had two hits for Cypress. Mira Costa is 1-6.

In nonconference men’s tennis:

Golden West 7, Mira Costa 2--Steve Arnott won, 6-1, 6-0, and Trent Burns won, 6-0, 6-2, in singles for visiting Golden West. Burns and David DiMarino won, 6-1, 6-1, and Arnott and Jimmy Johnson won, 6-3, 6-1, in doubles.

In nonconference men’s volleyball:

Orange Coast 3, Irvine Valley 0--Chad Jones had six kills and four other OCC players had five as the host Pirates (3-0) won, 15-2, 15-8, 15-4.
