Carlo L. Golino; Former UC Riverside Official, Founder of Italian Quarterly

Carlo L. Golino, 77, former vice chancellor at UC Riverside and founder and editor of Italian Quarterly. Born in Pescara, Italy, in 1913, Golino came to the United States in 1927 and studied at City College of New York, Columbia University, University of Colorado and UC Berkeley. He taught Italian at UCLA from 1947 to 1965. He then moved to UC Riverside, where he rose to vice chancellor in 1970. He left in 1973 to become chancellor of the University of Massachusetts in Boston, where he served until his retirement in 1978. In La Selva Beach, Calif., on Thursday of heart failure.
