Peaceniks’ About-Face Is No Real Surprise
- Share via
There’s really nothing confusing about ex-peaceniks from the ‘60s changing their views about war (“An About-Face?” Feb. 12).
Back then, they were in the care of their parents and didn’t want to trade in security for bloodshed. Now they’re pampered by the Establishment, and a war with people fighting for them is protecting their many luxuries.
The standard argument voiced by Leslie Paonessa and Stephen M. Rivers that Saddam Hussein must be stopped is old hat. Last time, Communism was the monster. Remember the domino effect?
The only difference this time is that Paonessa and Rivers are sending the troops, not foreseeing the danger of being sent.
