Alice in Wonderland, in 1865, Filmland’s flirt of the ‘40s and ’50. Peace child of the ‘60s. Fitness freak of the ‘70s and ‘80s. Metaphorically speaking, the headband has stretched over more than a century, periodically falling out of favor and then heading back in again.
In 1991, it’s on everybody’s mind, so to speak, and women and men borrow freely from every previous period, as these visitor’s to the Rose Bowl Flea Market demonstrate. Headbands these days adorn the hair, control the hair, protect the hair, and evoke the image of just about any decade you want.
