Hills to Close 32 Stores: Hills Department Stores, which filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year, said it will close 32 more stores and lay off 3,000 workers. The Canton, Mass.-based discount chain said the stores are in Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana, Alabama, Illinois and New York. Hills officials said they expect the closings to be the last under the company’s $125-million restructuring plan. The company closed 28 stores immediately after announcing the bankruptcy filing.
