Police on Friday were looking for a robber who stole $7,000 in cash from a movie theater.
The robbery occurred about 11 p.m. Thursday at the Edwards Cinema in the Guardian Center on Warner Avenue, Police Sgt. Bob Moran said.
Moran said the robber was apparently a customer who watched a movie and waited in the lobby afterward.
When the lobby was almost empty, the man went up to employees, pulled out a gun and demanded money from the safe.
The employees put $7,000 in a black nylon duffel bag, Moran said. The robber then escaped on foot.
Police described him as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, about 5-foot-8 and weighing 250 pounds.
On the night of the robbery, he wore a black baseball cap, a black nylon Windbreaker and blue jogging pants.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police investigators at (714) 960-8811.
