NBC Out of San Francisco: In a move to cut costs, NBC News is planning to close its San Francisco bureau June 1. Correspondent David Burrington will be retiring and three other staffers will be offered buyouts. The closing will leave Burbank as the sole NBC News bureau in California. NBC is facing cutbacks across the company due to the recession and the costs of news-gathering during the Gulf War.
