A 15-year-old boy suspected of stabbing another youth at the Buena Park Mall was nabbed by a bystander and later charged with assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
Police Lt. Tom Lucenti said the suspect stabbed the 15-year-old youth about 2:20 p.m. after the two had argued inside the mall.
The victim, who was not seriously injured, was treated for a puncture wound at UCI Medical Center.
The suspect had attempted to flee, but a bystander grabbed him and held the boy until police arrived, Lucenti said. The bystander’s name was not immediately available.
The suspect, not identified because of his age, was booked at the Buena Park police station and was to be transported later to Orange County Juvenile Hall, Lucenti said.
