Paramount Loses Bid to Enter New Evidence: Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Harvey Schneider refused to let Paramount Pictures present new evidence opposing his earlier ruling that the studio’s contract with producer Alain Bernheim should be set aside as “unconscionable.” A Paramount attorney said he may appeal the decision before the long-running trial over authorship of the film “Coming to America” continues. Schneider has already determined that Bernheim and columnist Art Buchwald are the film’s true authors, and he is conducting hearings to determine how much they should be paid for their role.
