Judge William P. Gray to Retire After 25 Years
- Share via
U.S. District Judge William P. Gray, who has monitored the rights of jail inmates in Los Angeles and Orange counties, will retire next month, ending a long and eventful chapter in the management of the two jail systems.
Gray, 79, was left weakened by surgery last year for a benign brain tumor. His retirement will end a 25-year federal judicial career that began when President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed him to the bench in 1966.
