Adam Rich, one of the stars of the television series “Eight Is Enough,” was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of burglarizing a West Hills drug store, Los Angeles police said.
Rich--who portrayed Nicholas Bradford, the youngest of eight children of a harried Sacramento newspaper columnist--was arrested at about 4 a.m. Saturday after officers stopped him while he was driving on Canoga Boulevard in West Hills.
Sgt. Jack Ahrens said that Rich is suspected of burglarizing a pharmacy in the 23100 block of Sherman Place earlier Saturday morning. Police would not release details.
Rich, 22, of Chatsworth, was put on five years probation in November after pleading guilty to drunk driving. According to sheriff’s deputies who arrested him in West Hollywood, Rich drove erratically, nearly hitting several pedestrians.
Rich began playing the role of Nicholas when he was 8, and continued until the popular series starring Dick Van Patten was canceled five seasons later. He has since appeared in two “Eight Is Enough” reunion movies, and two years ago appeared in an anti-drug television program.
On Saturday afternoon, Rich was in custody at the West Valley police station in lieu of $5,000 bail.
