Authorities said Saturday that a La Puente man fatally wounded by shots fired from a passing car as he stood on his front porch was the victim of a gang-related attack.
Sheriff’s deputies said that Johnny Montes, 18, was shot several times with a handgun late Friday as he stood outside his home in the 15100 block of Flagstaff Street. He died about three hours later at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, Sheriff’s Deputy Mary Landreth said.
Landreth said that several occupants of the car from which the shots were fired shouted gang slogans while going past the Montes home. No arrests had been made, she said.
