‘A’s Bandit’ Strikes His 25th Bank

After lying low for more than a week, the “A’s Bandit” struck again Tuesday, escaping with $2,222 from a University City bank, police said.

The bandit entered a Security Pacific Bank at 3813 Governor Drive just before 10:30 a.m. and handed the teller a demand note, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. He took back the note, which contained the words, “Give me your money. . . . I’ll shoot you if you don’t,” before fleeing on foot.

He wore an olive green, short-sleeved dress shirt, dark sunglasses and black pants, Robinson said. He was described as white, in his early 20s, with smooth, fair skin, short brown hair and a slim build.

The bandit is suspected of robbing 24 other San Diego banks since Feb. 5, making this hit his 25th. He had not struck since March 29.
