Baldwin Hills : Crime Increases by 31.8%

Increases in burglary, larceny, vehicle thefts, assaults and rape led to a 31.8% increase in major crimes in the first three months of 1991 in the unincorporated Baldwin Hills communities of View Park, Windsor Hills and Ladera Heights.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported there were 323 serious crimes in the area during the first quarter of this year, up from 245 in the same period a year earlier.
Reported rapes increased from one last year to three cases this year. The number of assaults was up from 34 to 37.
Burglaries shot up from 41 last year to 78 this year. Larcenies rose from 68 to 100 cases. Vehicle thefts increased from 51 last year to 62 this year.
The only decreases were a drop in robberies from 47 to 42 cases and no arson cases compared to two a year ago.
