Politics Reform Group Drops FEC Complaint

WASHINGTON — The Center for Responsive Politics, a group advocating campaign finance reform, has withdrawn a complaint filed with the Federal Elections Commission last week against Robert Rubin of New York City.
The group said that it erred in accusing Rubin, an investment banker with the firm of Goldman Sachs & Co., of violating the $2,000 limit on campaign contributions to a single candidate. Rubin’s contribution was inaccurately reported by the campaign of Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa). The center did not withdraw similar complaints filed against seven others.
