Keith Spangler of Northridge, the early leader in the Sportsman Division points standings at Saugus Speedway, is tied for sixth in the NASCAR Sunbelt Region points standings.
Spangler’s total of 335 points ties him with Rick Sipes of Tucson, Ariz., and Billy Siggs for sixth and places him just 25 points behind tri-leaders John Borneman (Ramona), Dick Cobb (Las Vegas) and David Rogers (Orange City, Fla.).
Competitors in the Sunbelt Region count their best 20 finishes, running once a week during the 22-week NASCAR Winston Racing Series season.
Carmit Bachar of Encino qualified for the 1991 U. S. rhythmic gymnastics championships to be held May 3-5 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Bachar, 16, tied Brooke Bushnell of San Rafael, Calif., for second in the U.S. Gymnastics Federation Region I championships in early April with a 42.75 all-around score. Bachar is one of 32 gymnasts to qualify for the nationals.
