COUNTYWIDE : Loan OKd for Home for Battered Women
- Share via
The County Board of Supervisors has approved a $211,500 loan to an organization for battered women to build a new home in Midway City.
The board approved the loan to Interval House Inc., a nonprofit, community-based shelter for battered women and their children. The loan will be used to convert a county-donated house into an 11-room shelter.
According to county officials, 10% of the loan will be forgiven for each year that the organization uses the shelter to provide affordable housing, potentially eliminating the debt by 2001. Interval House Inc. now operates two homes in the county that accommodate 41 women and children.
