Mike Pigg won the World Cup triathlon title at Surfers Paradise in Australia, using a strong performance in the bicycle race to hand Mark Allen his first defeat since 1988.
Pigg opened a 2-minute 30-second lead over Allen during the cycle leg and maintained his advantage during the running portion. He finished in 2 hours 45 minutes 57 seconds.
Allen, winner of the past three World Cup events, finished second in 2:47.28.
