Stop the Music: Maxim Shostakovich, son of the Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, has resigned as the New Orleans Symphony’s music director, saying he has not been paid for the past season. Shostakovich, 52, said he was quitting “in bitterness and vexation.” He has been music director for five years but only four seasons--one season had to be canceled for lack of money.
