Anthony D. (Tony) Thomopoulos has been named to the newly created position of president of Amblin Television, a division of Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment. Thomopoulos, who most recently has been an independent producer, was formerly president of the ABC Broadcast Group until 1985, when the network merged with Capital Cities Communications. Amblin, although principally known as a movie producer, in recent years has tried to expand its presence in television. The company produces the syndicated series “Tiny Toon Adventures” and “Harry and the Hendersons” and the upcoming “Family Dog” animated prime-time series for CBS.
