Georgia Tech’s Cremins Spurns Notre Dame

Bobby Cremins took himself out of the running for Notre Dame’s vacated basketball coaching job Monday, deciding instead to remain at Georgia Tech.
Although he acknowledged the Irish job was tempting, Cremins said, “My feeling for my players and the Georgia Tech family and friends was too strong for me to pursue any other interests.
“The next step was to go to Notre Dame for an interview. I decided not to do that. It might have been too tempting.”
Among other reported candidates to replace Digger Phelps are former Irish player and Southern Methodist Coach John Shumate, Nebraska’s Danny Nee, Stanford’s Mike Montgomery and New York Knick Coach John MacLeod.
