Datametrics Corp., a Chatsworth company that makes printers and other computer products for the aerospace, defense and industrial markets, reported increased profits for the latest quarter and six-month period, despite lower revenues.
For the second quarter that ended April 28, Datametrics earned $191,000, up 4% from $183,000 in net income a year earlier. Revenues declined 36% to $4.8 million from $7.4 million.
The company reported net income of $364,000 for the six months that ended April 28, a 14% gain from a $320,000 profit in the year-earlier period, while revenues fell 32% to $9.5 million from $14 million.
The increased profits resulted from more efficient manufacturing and contracting methods, an improved product mix and lower costs, including lower interest payments, the company said. Revenues were down because some contracts were delayed due to defense budget uncertainties, it said.
