FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Workers to Move to Rebuilt City Hall

After spending more than 16 months in temporary quarters, city workers are scheduled to move into a refurbished City Hall this weekend.
The $1.5 million worth of changes to the building include redesigned City Council chambers that allow more light to come into the room, and a pathway connecting City Hall to the council chambers. A “one-stop counter” for public works and the planning department also was installed, as was a new air-conditioning system that cost almost $300,000.
“Service will definitely improve now that all the departments are connected together,” said Don Heinbuch, administrative services manager “We’re all together now as a team.”
Of the city’s 242 employees, 68 will have their offices at the new City Hall.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 13, the day Fountain Valley marks its 34th birthday.
