COSTA MESA — A 25-year-old man was killed Thursday when the motorcycle he was riding struck a car turning left, police said.
Diep Ngoc Dinh of Costa Mesa was taken to College Hospital Costa Mesa, where he was pronounced dead, Officer Robert Baumgardner said.
The accident occurred near Fairview Road and Baker Street about 4:05 p.m., he said.
The driver of the car, Jane D. Anthony, 72, of Costa Mesa, told police she was going south on Fairview and paused in the intersection to make a left turn, Baumgardner said. She saw Dinh coming toward her on the motorcycle, but thought she had enough time to make the turn in front of him, he said.
Dinh, who was traveling at about 30 m.p.h., slammed into the right front wheel of Anthony’s car, Baumgardner said.
Anthony has not been cited, pending an investigation, police said.
