The acquittal of the two police officers who assaulted Jackson is an outrage that will hurt the cause of police departments everywhere in their effort to maintain the confidence and respect of the public.
The videotape by an NBC-TV news crew of Jackson being shoved into a plate glass window that broke upon impact is an outrageous display of police brutality. Dickey should have been convicted and sent to prison for his crime. We now have a much worse problem than police brutality itself. There is a justice system out there that fully favors police brutality. Let’s just wait to see what happens to the four specialists in police brutality who attacked Rodney King.
