Burt in Flat Rock: Burt Reynolds, on hiatus from CBS’ “Evening Shade,” is directing a play in Hendersonville, N.C. Rehearsals got under way Tuesday at the Flat Rock Playhouse for “Eleemosynary,” a play about communication and three generations of women. “I certainly identify with the people in the play,” said Reynolds. “In the South, there’s a saying that no man is a man until his father tells him so. My father never told me until I was 43. Not until then did I figure out that I could quit acting stupid.” The cast includes Elizabeth Ashley, who also stars in “Evening Shade.”
