OXNARD : Random Arson Destroys House
An apparently random arson gutted an Oxnard house, causing about $150,000 damage, authorities said Sunday.
The fire began shortly before midnight Saturday in a vacant house in the 2700 block of Daffodil Court, fire investigator Kevin Schroepfer said. Neighbors noticed the flames and flooded the Oxnard Fire Department switchboard with more than 15 calls, he said.
All department engines responded at 11:50 p.m., and 22 firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 45 minutes.
The house, owned by Kasemsaut Hansuvadba, had been rented, but the tenants had just moved out, Schroepfer said. No one was injured in the blaze. No one had been arrested by Sunday night.
