Pasadena : House Size Rule Relaxed
Residents will have a bit more leeway to remodel their homes under a change to the city’s “mansionization” ordinance approved Tuesday by the City Council.
The Feb. 19 ordinance was designed to stop the construction of large homes on small lots. It imposed a maximum house size of 30% of a lot’s square footage, plus 500 square feet. On Tuesday, the council voted to change the ordinance to allow houses of 30% lot size plus 1,000 square feet.
The change means that the maximum size for houses on half-acre lots will be 7,000-square feet and 13,000-square feet on acre lots.
