BIG BROTHER

Reader David M. Sherr correctly pointed out that the use of the word gyp constitutes an ethnic slur (Letters, May 12). In that spirit, I expect the Book Review to cease using the following terms:
-- Jazz and rock and roll (offensive sexual euphemisms not fit for publication in a family newspaper).
-- Whodunit (intolerant of the illiterate).
-- Good and bad (elitist concepts perpetuating centuries of white European male cultural oppression).
-- Ugly (hurtful to the homely).
-- Bum (hurtful to the homeless).
-- Bald (hurtful to the hairless).
-- Thought police (hurtful to the politically correct).
With the help of other vigilant Times readers, all suspect words shall be purged from the English language. I thank you, and Big Brother thanks you too.
