MAN BITES TOWN

Regarding “Caught in the Malestrom,” by Harry Shearer (April 21): The “men’s movement” could use a good critical look at itself. But let’s be real; this bit about men crawling on all fours, or cross-dressing, is not funny or even insightful. The “points” Harry Shearer makes just trivialize the issue. I also don’t think men have missed the point.
Harry, it’s hard to take a critical look at the foundation of your life, to ask yourself questions like “Why is this relationship (of five, 10 or 25 years) not working for me anymore?” It’s hard to examine deep personal issues; things that no longer bring the satisfaction they once brought when we were younger. Perhaps men want to look back at their lives and see that they’ve left more for their wives and children with their passing than just money and things.
Men haven’t lost their owners’ manual, they’re just rewriting it.
