Egghead Discount Software: The software retailer reported that its fourth-quarter earnings quadrupled to $4.3 million. Sales rose 8% to $129 million. For the year, profit was a record $15.4 million, contrasted with a loss of $7.7 million the year before. Revenue climbed 14% to a record $519 million. Issaquah, Wash.-based Egghead said strong sales and cost-cutting efforts helped boost results.
