Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) has hired former Camarillo Mayor Sandi Bush to work in his office as a part-time special assistant to help local government officials obtain federal money.
“I’ve know Sandi for many years,” Gallegly said Friday in making the announcement. “We worked together when we were both mayors. She is extremely dedicated, and her knowledge of local government will make her a great asset.”
Gallegly said Bush will serve as his liaison to city and county officials and will assist their efforts to expedite federal projects such as the proposed flood controls on Calleguas Creek.
Bush, a 17-year resident of Camarillo, served two terms on the Camarillo City Council and as the city’s mayor in 1986 and 1989. She could not be reached for comment Friday. But she said in a statement that she is looking forward to helping Gallegly and his staff “meet the challenges of the 1990s.”
“She is going to be doing part-time work for a while,” Gallegly said. Depending on the demands in his office, he said, Bush may work full-time in the future.
