THEATER PROTOCOL: The AMC movie chain’s ban of children under age 3 at all but G- and PG-rated films starts today, but other cultural venues have started similar noise crackdowns. . . . A recent survey of patrons at 13 U.S. symphonies found whispering, coughing and applauding at inappropriate moments the biggest distractions during performances, but beeping pagers ranked close behind. No wonder that the Grove Theatre in Garden Grove now asks patrons who cannot turn off their beepers and watch alarms to check them with the manager.
