Video Rental Chart : ‘Cop’ Fends Off ‘GoodFellas’

Some video store owners, particularly in New York, will tell you that “GoodFellas”--starring Robert De Niro and Oscar winner Joe Pesci--is the year’s best-renting title. Its performance on the Billboard chart, jumping from No. 26 to No. 2 after only two weeks, is an indication of its strength. Overall though, the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie “Kindergarten Cop” is still on top.
* Even critical acclaim couldn’t turn this into a major box-office hit last fall (it grossed a mild $13.1 million). But Jeremy Irons’ best-actor Oscar for his portrayal of Claus von Bulow should lure renters. The movie debuted at No. 36.
