Better Characterization of Reason Magazine

“Defining Controversy” (July 9) makes the mistake of defining Reason magazine as a “Libertarian” magazine.

The capital L tells Times readers that the magazine is part of the Libertarian party. It is not.

Reason is an independent magazine whose editorial philosophy is best characterized as libertarian.
