GRUNION HUNTING: Cabrillo Marine Museum offers its final grunion program at 9 p.m. tonight, with films, lectures, exhibits and a viewing of the silvery fish. The program is free, but beach parking is $5.50. Warm clothing is recommended.
CACTUS CARE: For cactus-lovers and drought-sensitive gardeners, a free program on growing cacti and succulents in small spaces will be offered at the Huntington Library, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
CHP OPEN HOUSE: The California Highway Patrol will hold an open house Saturday at its Los Angeles Communications Center, including a precision motorcycle demonstration, weapons displays and free fingerprinting for children. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the facility at 4016 Rosewood Ave., Los Angeles.
