Kinnamon Nominated to Lead Disciples of Christ Denomination

The Rev. Michael K. Kinnamon, whose failure to condemn homosexuality led critics to challenge his nomination as chief executive of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), has been confirmed as the official nominee.
The 42-year-old dean of Lexington Theological Seminary will stand for election at the denomination’s October general assembly in Tulsa, Okla., after more than three-fourths of the church’s General Board voted to confirm him as nominee for general minister and president.
Debate has swirled around Kinnamon and his view of Scripture ever since he stated that gay men and lesbians should be welcome in the church but reserved judgment on the issue of ordination of homosexuals.
