Rain Causes Floods in Austria, Germany

VIENNA — Torrential rain and flooding that left scores dead in eastern Europe hit Austria and Germany on Friday, killing at least three people, closing dozens of roads and threatening tourist spots.
The storms have swept across Europe in the past week, causing a deadly dam burst in northeastern Romania that killed at least 72 people and left 32 missing.
On Friday, scenic Salzburg and dozens of tourist spots and historic towns skirting swollen rivers in northern and central Austria were hit.
Salzburg, Mozart’s hometown and site of a renowned summer music festival, was declared a disaster area as the banks of the Salzach River burst.
