Murray Turns Another Non-Fan Into a Fan

For a guy from Brooklyn who saw only one Dodgers game back then (and thought it was boring), well, I’m just not into sports.

But Jim Murray, now that’s different. He writes about something I couldn’t care less about and brings me to tears. It’s not sportswriting, it’s art.

He’s Damon Runyon, he’s Howard Fast, he’s John Bradshaw. He tells you about someone and you’re reading about yourself and your deepest feelings. He talks about the Palace, Broadway, Hollywood, and yeah, the little guys, too.

Jim Murray, he belongs in the Hall of Fame.
