HOUSTON — The widow of U.S. Rep. Mickey Leland has filed a lawsuit against the maker of the plane that crashed in Africa two years ago, killing Leland and 15 other people.
Alison Leland filed the product liability suit last week along with Patricia Johnson, whose husband also died in the crash. Leland, a Democrat, was on his way to visit a refugee camp when the plane struck a mountain in Ethiopia.
The lawsuit blames the crash on faulty equipment and an unqualified crew.
