Mobile-Radio Firm OKs Deal for Florida Systems: American Mobile Systems Inc., a Woodland Hills operator of mobile-radio systems, said it has agreed with Johnson Communications Corp. of Atlanta to acquire or manage some of Johnson’s mobile-radio systems and service facilities in Florida, in the Tampa and Miami areas. In exchange, Johnson will receive systems that American Mobile owns or manages in the Atlanta and Orlando areas, plus $2.4 million in cash. American Mobile said the transaction would give it a more stable and consolidated operating base in Florida. It would also increase its operating income by $500,000 a year and reduce its annual marketing costs by $260,000, the company said.
