Bear Stearns Sues Proxy Solicitor: Bear, Stearns & Co. has sued a leading shareholder proxy solicitor, D. F. King & Co., on grounds that it used deception to obtain information about the Wall Street firm’s customers. In a suit filed in New York State Supreme Court, Bear Stearns alleges that D. F. King employees, impersonating high-level Bear Stearns employees, phoned underlings at the investment firm and duped them into divulging client secrets. The suit seeks unspecified damages.
