Relationship Between Agencies and Homeless

In the effort to condense my Aug. 25 letter regarding the homeless youth on Hollywood Boulevard, my position on the causal relationship between homeless youth and the agencies aimed at helping them was obscured.
I in no way believe that homeless youth are attracted to the area because of such agencies as Teen Canteen. As I mentioned, Teen Canteen was founded in response to the growing number of youth on the streets, and our efforts are strictly aimed at empowering these youth to get off the streets.
Ironically, because of our recent fire, we have left Hollywood Boulevard and relocated to Santa Monica Boulevard. I think all involved in serving this population would be very surprised if the numbers of homeless youth on the boulevard declines because of our move.
