2 Tourists Shot in Miami; Reward Offered for Arrest

MIAMI — Hotels and other businesses that depend on tourists offered a $10,000 reward Friday for the arrest of gunmen who wounded a pair of British tourists who refused to hand over their valuables.
The incident was the latest in a growing number of Miami robberies victimizing tourists, especially those driving rental cars, police said.
John Hayward, 63, and his wife, Rose, were shot Thursday morning after they became lost while driving their rental car.
When another car pulled up next to the Haywards, the couple asked the men inside for directions, police said. Instead of giving them help, the men ordered the tourists to get out of their car and hand over their goods.
The couple refused and the robbers opened fire.
Hayward was hospitalized in good condition and his wife was listed in serious condition, authorities said.
